Full Moon Ritual

I can sleep for England. I don’t struggle to fall asleep at all, I can sleep on a plane, car bus ride anywhere and at anytime; if i’m in a horizontal position in 5 minutes or less I will be fast asleep. A few years ago I noticed at least once a month I would really struggle, I would toss and turn, have weird dreams that I couldn’t really remember or make sense off and in some cases just not be able to sleep at all. Not long after it started happening I realised that it always occurred around the time of the full moon.

Because of how the full moon affected my sleep and sometimes even mayday and I was feeling (often grumpy or a bit snappy) I decided to start looking in to the moon and how it can affect you, it is here that I came across new and full moon rituals. I have now been doing them for two years.

It is said that a new moon is a time to plant seeds for the future, to set positive intentions and tell the universe what you really want, nothing you want is too big or too small. The full moon is a time of releasing and letting go; letting go of any issues that you might have with others and with yourself. You could be letting go of bad habits, or relationships that just don’t serve you again just like the new moon nothing is too big or too small.

I can honestly say that now I am more aware of the moon and how it can affect us, I very rarely have bad night sleeps, and if I am turning in to a bit of a werewolf and am a bit grumpy towards others, I understand now that I am simply being affected by the moons energy and can pull my self back to normal.

Here is an example of what I will be doing for my full moon ritual. I am going to do my ritual in my room near my balcony door where I can clearly see the full moon. If you would prefer and are a bit concerned about the fire from the candle you can do your full moon ritual outside.

My alter

What I will be using:

  • Pen and paper

  • Bowl with water

  • Candle

  • My crystals

1) I Light my candle by my alter where I keep all of my crystals

2) Before meditating I set the intention of releasing all that doesn’t serve me. I meditate for around 5 minutes or for as long as I have the feeling to.

3) After meditating I write down all of the things that I want to let go of. You can write down as many as you wish there is no limit.

4) At the end of all that I have written I write ‘I release all that no longer serves me for my highest good’

5) Light the piece of paper with the candle and allow it to fall in to the bowl of water.

6) Sit for a while to take everything that you have done all in.

7) If you have any crystals put them put them outside to bathe and recharge in the light of the full moon.

I hope you find this as helpful as I have and would love to hear what you do for your new and full moon rituals.

Hugs and love
